One of the subjects which is studied by scholars and philosophers in the
West and East, is determination of the truth conditions of sentences
containg non-existent expressions and status of understanding the
semantic content of these sentences. We can not find a philosopher who
has not dealt with this subject. But as far as the author knows, there is
no semantic study in linguistics, at least in Persian, about non-existent
expressions. The aim of this article is providing a new theory about
status of reference and classification of non- existent expressions from
linguistic semantic view.
